Josep Borrell opposes total visa ban for Russians.
The head of EU diplomacy did not support a complete ban on visas for Russians
The head of the European Union's foreign policy department opposed the proposal of some member states bordering Russia to prevent the entry of citizens of the country into the EU. The bloc's foreign ministers will discuss the visa ban next week. “Ban entry to all Russians — not the best idea. We need to be more selective, — Borrell said speaking at a conference in Spain, reports Bloomberg. He added that Russian oligarchs should not be allowed into the EU, but “there are many Russians who do not want to live in such a situation.” Earlier, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania called at the EU level to introduce a ban on the issuance of Schengen visas to Russians. German Chancellor Olaf Scholz also opposed this idea.
