Gastronomic holidays are loved in North America, and November 3 is National Sandwich Day in the USA
According to one version, the traditional the sandwich got its name from John Montagu, the English Earl of Sandwich (a city and community in the southeast of England in the county of Kent). Allegedly, Montagu came up with such a snack so as not to be distracted from his favorite long card games. Today, the sandwich is popular all over the world, and almost every country has its own version of this snack. “Around the World” tellsabout the most remarkable of them.
The popular vegetarian sandwich consists of two potato patties (vada), unsweetened bread (pav) and traditional chutney sauce. The dish is prepared both in major fast food chains and on the street.

A triangular sandwich with two slices of soft white bread, which can be found in any cafe on the narrow Italian streets, as a filling most often contains tuna or mushrooms with mayonnaise. Serve chilled.
“Croc” comes from the French croquer – “crunch”, which is why sandwich bread is smeared with butter and baked on ;bake with cheese and ham. Fried eggs are laid out on top, and the eggless version is called croc-monsieur.

< p> Vegemite (vegemite) is a specific dark brown paste based on yeast extract. Salted pasta is spread on crispy toast, sometimes on a bun or even a cracker.
Smørrebrød in Denmark is served even in chic restaurants, and it is supposed to be eaten with a knife and fork, otherwise the sandwich will simply fall apart. Vegetables, bacon, herring, pate or seafood are spread on a thin piece of rye bread, greased with butter.
The well-known shawarma is not quite a sandwich, and yet in its based all the same bread (cake) and filling. Sliced meat simmered on a skewer for a long time, fresh vegetables and yoghurt sauce – the traditional recipe remains unchanged and conquered the world.

A classic Vietnamese sandwich served in a baguette, and its highlight is marinated carrots with daikon. The filling can be the most diverse – pate, pork, chicken or shrimp. Interestingly, “ban mi” simply means bread.

A popular sandwich on the Polish streets is made from half a baguette, on which mushrooms and cheese are placed. The sandwich is then baked in the oven to melt the cheese. Served with hot ketchup.
On thin crispy the toast is placed shrimp salad with onions and greens, seasoned with mayonnaise or curd cheese. You can decorate the sandwich with red caviar.
