A resident of Kabardino-Balkaria gave birth on the slope of Elbrus at an altitude of 3800 meters. According to the rescuers, this happened for the first time in the history of observations.

A tourist climbed the cable car to the Garabashi station – the final stop of the Elbrus cable car at an altitude of 3800 m. There are cafes and numerous shelters for climbers, which climb to the top.

Right there, a 27-year-old girl went into labor. According to her, the waters receded while climbing the cable car. As the tourist assures, she did not even know that she was pregnant. She was immediately taken to one of the shelters on Garabashi and delivered. When rescuers arrived at the scene, the child had already been born.

Specialists lowered the mother and the newborn boy weighing 2.9 kg down the cable car to the Azau glade (2300 m). From there, they were taken by ambulance 100 km away to the hospital in the city of Baksan. Now their condition is assessed as good, the family is preparing for discharge.
